Police arrest 50-year-old man for def!ling two minors, aged 11 and 13 in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man simply identified as Godwin for allegedly def!ling two minors in Ogale in the Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

 

The suspect was said to have been arrested on Monday by operatives of the Eleme Police Division at his residence following a formal complaint lodged by the parents of the girls aged 13 and 11, respectively.

 

Father of the older minor, Cletus (other names withheld), alleged that the suspect’s style is to send the two children on an errand and will later invite them into his room after they return with the item he had asked them to buy.

 

“Then he (suspect) will lock the door, turn up the volume of his music and s3xually assault the children,” he said.

 

Cletus further alleged that after the incident, the suspect threatened to deal severely with the underaged girls if they disclosed what had happened to them.

 

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Blessing Agabe, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to punch on Thursday, July 30, saying investigation is ongoing.

 

Agabe, however, said the police were yet to receive the medical form given to the parents of the girls to ascertain the veracity of the allegation

 

“Yes, I can confirm the arrest of the suspect. He is in our custody. However the police issued a medical form to enable the girls to go for examination,” she said. 

 

“As I speak to you, we are still waiting for the results because it will show if there was penetration and so on. If that happens, then we (police) will transfer the case to the appropriate bureau.

“So, we are still investigating, and the form we have issued is part of that investigation.”
