Former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin was arrested on Thursday, September 3, in connection with a contempt-of-court case linked to his ongoing divorce and child support proceedings.

According to Louisville Public Media, Bevin was taken into custody in Bourbon County, Kentucky, while working as an extra on the set of a Christmas film. He was later transported to the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, where he was booked on a charge listed as “contempt of court libel/slander resistance to order”.

The case reportedly stems from Bevin’s failure to provide financial records requested by a judge handling his divorce and child support proceedings. The judge subsequently found him in contempt of court and issued an arrest warrant.

Bevin had also faced an earlier warrant this year after failing to appear at a court hearing in May. According to the report, Bevin said he missed that hearing because a boulder had struck his vacation home in Maine. He later paid a fine, and the judge withdrew that warrant.

A second warrant was issued after Bevin again failed to provide the requested financial records. This time, the fine remained unpaid and the warrant stayed active, ultimately leading to his arrest. Louisville Public Media also reported that Bevin’s former wife, Glenna, and their son attended a July court hearing in person.

During that hearing, another person reportedly attempted to join the proceedings several times via Zoom but was removed from the call after allegedly failing to identify themselves. Bevin served as Kentucky’s 62nd governor from 2015 to 2019.
