A live broadcast on Arise TV grew a bit tense on Saturday, September 5, 2026, when Tope Fasua, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, openly expressed displeasure after being corrected by an anchor during an economic analysis.

While speaking about the government’s economic achievements, Fasua talked about Uber leaving the Nigerian market. He tried to show that investments were still coming in by claiming that Uber had bought a Nigerian company called “Glovo.”

‘’When Uber was leaving Nigeria, they went and bought Glovo, a Nigerian company that is into food deliveries and other kinds of deliveries. They bought tha company for $16.9 billion ‘’

Arise TV anchor Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie immediately interjected to correct the assertion, noting that Glovo is a Spanish delivery startup rather than a Nigerian entity.

Fasua was visibly annoyed by the live correction. Defending his presentation, he criticized Giwa-Osagie’s timing and tone, telling the anchor that interrupting a guest mid-sentence to offer a correction was “a bit rude.”

‘’You could have waited for me to land…anyway, you have the platform so you can cut in anytime you like but it is a bit rude to your guest”
