South African OAP Dineo Ranaka has called out her former colleagues MacG and Sol Phenduka over remarks they made about the disappearance of runner Elizabeth Tsontso Moselakgomo, who was later found d!d. The controversy began after a clip from an episode of Podcast and Chill circulated online. The episode was recorded while Moselakgomo was still missing, with MacG and Phenduka making jokes about her disappearance and her running. Phenduka later apologised, describing his comments as an unfortunate pun and admitting that making humour out of a missing persons situation was distasteful. Reacting in a video shared online, Ranaka described MacG and Phenduka as f!lth and said she found their comments disting, particularly because both men are fathers. This is not about, Oh, no, they apologise. Shes still d!d. If the apologising can resuscitate her from the d@th, then lets take the apology, she said. Ranaka said an apology could not undo the r@p or trauma suffered by victims, nor could it bring back people who had d!d or reverse the impact on orphaned children. She also criticised the podcast for allegedly turning serious issues involving r@p, v!olnc and d@th into entertainment in pursuit of views and ratings. We are tired of ratings. We are tired of views. We are tired of numbers that dont matter. The numbers that matter are the people who are d!ng in this country, she said. Ranaka called for greater accountability from media personalities and authorities, adding that people should think carefully before making sensitive comments on air. We dont want apologies anymore. We dont even want your accountability. We just want you to sober up, she said.
