Comedian SeyiLaw has sparked a debate on social media  after taking to his Instagram page to mock Peter Obi over his long-standing claims regarding the financial state of Anambra State.

Obi, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress NDC, has consistently campaigned on his record of financial prudence. He frequently asserts that he left over $150 million and N36 billion in investments and savings in the state’s coffers when his tenure as governor ended in March 2014.

In a direct swipe at Obi, Seyi Law shared an old newspaper clipping reporting that Bola Ahmed Tinubu left N27 billion in the state treasury when he completed his term as Lagos State governor in May 2007.

Taking a jab at Obi’s political strategy, Seyi Law noted that Tinubu has never used those figures to campaign, adding, “some people will not allow us rest.”

His post has since ignited a wave of reactions across social media. While some users backed his stance, many others pushed back, arguing that there is no basis for comparison between the tenures and economic contexts of Peter Obi in Anambra and Bola Tinubu in Lagos.
