Former US President Barack Obama has said he believes the world could be better governed if women were given leadership of every government around the world for two years.

Obama made the comment while discussing the importance of giving younger voices and new generations of leaders greater opportunities to shape society.

Reflecting on his time as president, Obama said he sometimes imagined what the world would look like if women were placed in charge of governments globally for a period of two years.

“Even when I was President, I sometimes fantasized about if you put women in charge of every government for like two years, and then just kind of saw, ‘All right, how are things going?’” he said.

According to Obama, such an arrangement would not create a perfect world, but he believes it would lead to noticeable improvements.

“I have a strong belief that things wouldn’t be perfect, but they’d be better. I’m confident about that. I really do,” he added.
