Megan Thee Stallion has opened up about her difficult split from NBA star Klay Thompson, describing the breakup as “very rough” and saying she was losing herself while trying to make the relationship work.
Speaking in a new InStyle interview, the rapper said she kept “trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong” and attempting to fit herself into someone else’s life.
“I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again,” she said.
Megan said she has learned that trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for her in a relationship.
“I cannot be disrespected. I cannot be a person who is not gonna be me. I cannot not go to work. I’m going to be Megan Thee Stallion,” she said.
She added that she wants to be treated as an equal in her next relationship and will not allow herself to be minimised or take a backseat to a partner.
Megan and Thompson began dating in 2025 and made their relationship public that July. She confirmed their split in April 2026 after accusing him of infidelity, while Thompson has not publicly addressed the allegations.
