Kidnapping kingpin nabbed as police arrest two men for r@ping minors, aged 7 and 8 in Yobe

Yobe State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly r@ping minors, aged 7 and 8. 

 

The spokesperson for the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, who disclosed this in a statement on July 19, 2026 said police operatives also arrested a suspected kidnapping kingpin for demanding the sum of N10m from a victim and ordering him to relocate or risk being k!lled.

 

According to the PPRO, operatives attached to the Garin Alkali Division in Bursari Local Council arrested Habu Haruna, 24, on July 18, 2026, for allegedly luring and s3xually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in a nearby bush.

 

Similarly, on July 19, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m., detectives attached to the Bara Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Mohammed Yau, for allegedly s3xually assaulting an eight-year-old girl inside an uncompleted building.

 

“On 18 July 2026 at about 1400hrs, operatives attached to Garin Alkali Division, Bursari Local Government Area, arrested one Habu Haruna, 24 years old, of Rainikunu Garu Dole Village, Bursari LGA, for allegedly luring and raping a seven-year-old girl in a nearby bush,” the statement read.

 

“The victim was immediately rushed to a medical facility for examination, treatment, and necessary psychosocial support, while investigation continues.

 

“Similarly, on 19 July 2026 at about 1600hrs, detectives attached to Bara Divisional Police Headquarters arrested one Mohammed Yau, 65 years old, of Kojole Village, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl inside an uncompleted building. 

 

“Both the victim and the suspect have been taken to a medical facility for forensic and clinical examination to aid investigation and possible prosecution.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, psc, mspsp, has strongly condemned the acts of r@pe, particularly those involving children, describing them as cruel, inhumane, and unacceptable. 

 

“He directed that comprehensive investigations be concluded without delay and assured members of the public that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

 

He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the Police.

 

In a separate operation, operatives attached to the Potiskum Area Command on 15 July 2026 arrested one Saidu Mohammed (40) of Jalam Village, Bauchi State, a suspected kidnapping kingpin and armed robbery suspect who has long been on the Command’s watchlist.

 

“The arrest followed a complaint received on 11 July 2026 from a victim who reported that he had received a threatening telephone call on 10 July 2026 at about 2151hrs from phone number 09079401479, demanding the sum of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000.00) and ordering him to relocate or risk being k!lled,” the statement read.

 

“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives immediately commenced a technically driven, intelligence-led investigation, which resulted in the swift arrest of the suspect. 

 

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly operated across Bauchi, Yobe and Gombe States. 

 

“Further investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the criminal syndicate and bring them to justice.”
