My ex-husband punched me repeatedly one month and two weeks after childbirth - Nigerian woman opens up about her ordeal in an abusive marriage

A Nigerian woman, Umeozor Chinwe Stephanie, has opened opened up about the alleged physical and emotional abuse she endured in her marriage.

Stephanie, who shared her story in a Facebook post on Friday, August 20, 2026 recalled an incident when her husband allegedly punched her repeatedly just a month and two weeks after she gave birth.

Sharing photos from that alleged incident, she noted that years of bottled-up emotions can profoundly change a woman’s appearance and affect her health.

According to her, she was falsely accused of using charms to make her ex marry her and was subsequently thrown out.

Stephanie added that sharing her story is part of her healing journey since she can’t afford a therapist at this time.

“I never knew what it felt like and how painful it is to be beaten by who you accepted to do life with until it happened to me,” she wrote.

“Nobody spoke about the physical abuse nor the emotional abuse I went through in my years of marriage.

“The emotions that has been bottled up in years you feel is not enough to affect the look of a woman?

“Can a woman who charmed a man to marry her be beaten like this? will she be thrown out of what’s rightfully hers? I was accused of many more, avoid manipulative people cause they will never be accountable for what they did.

“This was me with my face after I received punches from my ex husband at one month and two weeks postpartum.

“Omoh see where man dey throw me punch like him dey fight his fellow man.

“God gave me strength that day if not I for die cause eye wey turn me for land me for ground but I stand gidigbam.

“No woman deserve to be with a woman beater and an abuser.

“I ‘m healing, is a gradual thing and this is the process since I can’t afford a therapist.”
