The Benue State Police Command has announced the arrest of seven more suspects, including an 80-year-old man, in connection with the k!lling of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and Yakubu Isa.
The two men were múrdéred on July 1, 2026 while returning from a security meeting organized by the Divisional Police Officer in Ohimini Local Government Area.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Udeme Edet, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, July 11, 2026 said the latest arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering, detailed investigations, and coordinated tactical operations.
The newly arrested suspects are: Chief Morgan Ejaga (43), Chief Moses Anteyi (45), Chief John Ogli (58), Chief Yawuhu Adaji (49), Sylvester Ajonye (80), Aba Alexander Uloko (59) and Fidelis Iduma (45).
This development comes after the earlier arrest of 10 suspects linked to the case, bringing the total number of arrests so far to 17.
The Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, praised the officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism and assured residents that the investigation is still ongoing.
He stressed that everyone found to have played any role in the k¡ll¡ngs would be brought to justice.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain calm and continue providing credible information that could help security agencies conclude the investigation.
