Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been restored after it was vandalised following the singer’s death.

Photos obtained by TMZ showed the star fully repaired on Friday, September 4,  with Parton’s name restored. A turquoise butterfly was placed over the centre medallion, while flowers and other tributes surrounded the star.

The butterfly has long been associated with Parton, who used it as a personal and career symbol because of her connection to nature. She previously spoke about developing an affection for butterflies while chasing them as a child in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains.

The restoration came after someone scratched Parton’s name from the Walk of Fame star on Monday, August 31, shortly after her death at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer. Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, previously said the repaired star needed three days to cure before crews could return to polish it on Friday morning.

Martinez also clarified that Parton’s family was not responsible for arranging or paying for the repairs. The Hollywood Historic Trust, a nonprofit organisation, is responsible for maintaining and repairing stars along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Repair costs vary depending on the extent of the damage, with the Trust using the same construction company responsible for creating the stars to carry out restoration work. Parton’s star had already developed cracks before the vandalism and had been scheduled for repairs.
