Two people have been confirmed de@D after a machete- and knife-wielding man stormed the IMAX cinemas in Lekki, Lagos State, on Friday night, August 29.,

Eyewitnesses say the assailant, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, attempted to enter the cinema premises when the security guards stopped him.

Confirming the incident to LIB, the spokesperson of the command, SP Adebisi Abimbola, said the assailant, who appeared to be destitute, allegedly st@bbed the guard to de@th and injured another security guard. 

Adebisi stated that the assailant was mobbed, resulting in his de@th.

She said the cinema’s Chief Security Officer is currently in custody, and authorities are working to obtain and review CCTV footage from the premises to identify any other persons who may have been involved in the incident.

She said an investigation has been launched into the incident.
